Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to tell you about a demonstration in favour of a new community centre in our town, which starts on Sunday November 4.

 Community development must be the most important thing to deal with. First of all, community centres provide a meeting place and  base for activities for local people. According to the sources, a lot of people of the town would like to be involved in the city’s life. Secondly, community centre associations will be made up of local volunteers. We have already had enough people, who help to run the centre and everything that is organised there, for this job.

Finally, most of developed countries build community centre to provide basic services to poor residents and work to protect the environment. But what is very important for our town is to built a community centre where people could socialize, as members meet new people, build community awareness and team spirit, and participate in group activities.

 Purpose
The aim of this report is to analyse the results of a survey which was carried out among students of The Aru Secondary School. The survey indicates what kind of books are mostly liked and should be bought to the library.
Boys
Firstly, the research shows that the half of students questioned prefer thrillers and the smallest number of boys prefer poetry. A minority of those questioned prefer romantic novels. Thrillers have always been the most popular genre among boys.
Girls
However, the survey indicates that reading interests among girls are slightly different from boys.Romantic novels and historical novels are almost equally popular among the students questioned and cover about a quarter each from the results of the questionnaire. About 21 per cent of those questioned prefer thrillers and again, poetry is the least popular genre, covering only 17 per sent of the results.
Recommendations
In conclusion, I would recommend buying various reading genres to the library, althoug, historical novels seem to be most popular among all students. I would not recommend poetry books to be bought because both boys and girls do not prefer reading poetry.

Love story

It was a beautiful spring day and we were walking in a very beautiful place. I do not remember how we came to this place, but I have never seen such an amazing landscape. I was with my boyfriend Joe. I am dating with him about two years and love him very much. Sometimes I feel that he wants to tell me something but he cannot and I do not know why.
We were walking along the narrow path and there were millions of bright stars in the sky.It was so romantic.On the right hand, the small river silently murmured.Birdies chirped.There was very silent and quiet.Suddenly,we appeared on a magic glade.It was fantastic. Butterflies flitted over our heads. Suddenly, music started somewhere: singing of birds, a grass rustle, murmuring of water. The nature tried to tell something,but I did not understand what.But it seemed to me that my boyfriend had guessed.He took my hand and looked me in the eyes.He pulled out from his pocket something like a small box.It was a ring.His voice was trembling and he began to breathe faster.And suddenly he asked: "Will you marry me?".My head swam,legs trembled and tears welled up in my eyes. And I whispered:"Yes..." He kissed me.
Now I am lying in my warm bed, I am thinking about the best day of my life. We were very tired and felt very happy to be back home.

Goals

What are the goals of my life? That is the most important question in my life at the moment. Every human has different kind of goals. Usually, for men the main goal is to become successful and have a well-paid job. For women - be a good mother. But of course there always are exceptions to all rules.

Firstly, being a woman I want to have a big and strong family, to have two kids and a husband with who we would live in love and peace.

Secodly, I cannot forget about my education. Right now the most important thing for me is finishing the school and get high marks in exams. After that, I am planning to study in the university in Finland. After having bachelor degree I will go to Sweden to get master's degree.

The last but not least is to do everything I could to make my dreams come true.

In conclusion, I would like to say that everything depends on us. We are writing the history of our lifes, not someone else. If you want something, do everything you can to achieve your goal. Just do it!

Dating

Arranged marriages are not common for Estonia, but nowadays they are largely practiced in places like India, Nepal, Pakistan, etc. Their benefits are numerous yet much can be said against them.

The main disadvantage of arranged marriages is that love takes second priority. Secondly, When marriages are arranged by parents, this does not encourage their children to make up their own mind about who to love and marry. Finally, шnterference from extended family.

However, the advantages of arranged marriages are numerous, such as risk of incompatability is diminished, because these two people come from families, who have the same culture, share the same religious upbringing, speak the same language. Moreover, a man and a woman share the same views of marriage and family and the chance of divorcing due to irreconcilable differences is not as strong as in western cultures. In addition, the big family has its own benefits. For example, if newlyweds have hard times, they can count on the help of their parents and in-laws.

To sum up, there are strong arguments both for and against  arranged marriages. I personally prefer love-match instead of arrange marriage, because I want to live the way that I want.

Review

Oliver Twist is a novel written by English author Charles Dickens. It was published in 1838. The first edition was titled: Oliver Twist; or, The Parish Boy's Progress. The main characters are Oliver Twist, Fagin, Mr. Brownlow and Mrs. Maylie.

This story takes place in the streets of a small town and it is about a small boy with a big heart, who escapes from a workhouse and who is an ordinary person caught up in events. After escaping from a workhouse he decided to travel to London. During his journey Oliver meets the Artful Dodger, a nice boy who offers his help. Oliver is taken to a run-down house occupied by Fagin and his boys. Then Oliver understands that he gets into the rites of pickpocketing. His first theft is not a success and he is caught by the police. Mr. Brownlow, the victim of the pickpocketing, takes pity on him and takes him into his own home. The end of the novel is sort of a "happily ever after"-ending, but I like that sort of thing.

In my opinion, it is very exciting book. It is really worth reading, especially if you like to read about children and their adventures. Unfortunately, nowadays this book is not very popular, but Charles Dickens is a great person and I do not regret that I have read this book.

How to reduce stress

Dear Mr. Teplov,

I am writhing to tell you about a stress which most of our students are sufferred from.

First of all, homework. Too much homework. When we come home we need to have some rest, some lunch time, but we have so much homework so we have to do it immidiately. And now it is almost impossible to do our homework without a computer. Trust me, I tried.

Secondly, problems with some teachers. It is very stressful to have an argue with an adult. We do not want to argue, we just want that they understand us. Of course, we are not angels but neither they are.

Finally, breaks. We need a separate room for spending our breaks in silence. Because we are tired from that screaming and noise.

Of course, it is impossible to solve the problem with teachers and students. There always will be arguments between the young generation and the old generation. With regard to homework, we will never have it less, but, at least,we can have none of it on weekends.

The younger generation knows best

A lot of people think that knowledge depends on age. In their opinion, when we are getting older, we get more and more experience; however, sometimes old people have too little knowledge about the world to know much.

I personally do not have the exact opinion. It depends on every person. Of course, nowadays it is very hard to study for teenagers. Some of them think only about a mark when the main thing is knowledge. But what did you want with exams starting from Year 9, when we are just fourteen, the pressure starts to build up and it seems that life is all about doing well in exams.

On the other hand, we can suppose that the younger generation knows best, because it has a better connection with actual problems. Old people usually are not interested in problems which do not concern them.

We (I mean the younger generation) usually do not know best when we listen to our hearts’ voice. Aged individuals listen to their mind what makes their decisions more responsible and smart.

To sum up, there is no people who are perfect and know everything. Both young and aged generation have some lacks in their knowledge. But I personally think that the only way to make our decisions good is to communicate with different people and learn on yours and others mistakes.

Once upon a time,turn of the century, there was one man.His name was Bob and he was a tailor.Bob was a good one tailor,everybody in the town knew him.He made different costumes for rich people.But he also like to do costumes for poor people for free.So poor relations were often-visitors and his real friends.

He had in his pocket money 10 $ a week,but he spent 7 or 8 $ to buy a food for poor relations.He was very kind person.
But once there was one situation.Bob with his wife went to the variety show which is called "Otello".Bob loved William Shakespare very much so he decided to go to this show,because it was Bob's dream.He with Mary bought some candies and enjoy show.When the show had ended they went home.They arrived home.But suddenly Bob felt bad,something with his heart.And he died for a second.He did not suffer. It is a pity, but he died when he was happy.

First of all, you should talk to your parents. Explain them that you are serious about Gloria, that you have been going out with her for six months and that you have never felt like this before. Generally speaking, ask them to try to accept her. Tell them about her, about her family. Secondly, tell them you understand their opinion, that you understand why they are scared you will get married and live abroad. But do not forget to say that you are their son and you want them to understand your opinion too. And finally, you should introduce Gloria to your parents to give them the chance to get to know her.

Historically, men were the hunters and women homemakers. It should stay like that.

It is one of the most important issues nowadays. In the last few years, women have started to do more male jobs. Benefits of this are numerous yet much can be said against it.

First of all, women should not be excluded from traditionally male jobs. We live in a free and independent country, every person has the same rights and nobody must not be discriminated. Women need more freedom and they would have it if they earned more money. Of course, looking after the home and family is a big enough job, but if women want to work we must not be against that.

Nowadays, in the 21th century women can do all what men do. It is a huge progress. But of course this situation caused many problems in relationships between men and women and every women as a clever person must understand that and let men think that they are the leader in relationships.

To sum up, there are strong arguments for and against women doing male jobs, but people need to get used to the idea of women doing traditionally male jobs.

I am writing to thank you for coming to our school to give a talk.

Firstly, the discussion was very interesting, because almost every student is interested in his/her future and education. Secondly, we want to warn you that you left your personal notebook in the headmaster’s room. I need to confirm your address and arrange for the notebook to be sent by registered post, or for a courier to drop it off. I have therefore tried to telephone you loads of times to talk about this, but the number you gave to the headmaster did not work. I also sent an email to the gmail address, but it bounced back, so I recon the address had something missing.

I am sure that you would like to sort this out asap, and I am really sorry about the delay which has been caused. I would be grateful if you could get in touch with me as soon as you can.

Yesterday you called me but I was out. My brother left me the note but I noticed that you did not answer all my questions. First of all, could you tell me what facilities are available? It is really important for me. Secondly, I did not exactly understand if I can use the kitchen. I am a good cooker and if it is possible I would like to cook by myself. And finally, is there Internet access? Internet is really important thing because I need to keep in touch with my parents and also for my studying.

My brother told me that you would like to know about me more. Well, I am 17 years old. I have a big family. My mother tongue is Russian but I am Estonian. I will send you my picture too.

In ten-year time

Where will I be in ten years' time? And will I be happy with the way I have been living my life? Will I be all right?

These are the most important questions for me. I do not know what I will do in ten-year time. I will be 27 years old that is the only thing I know for sure.

In ten years I am planning to graduate the university and to get a good job. I do not know who I will be, maybe a businesswoman, or a successful neurosurgeon, or a famous producer. I definitely would like to live in another country like Great Britain, The USA, Italy.

I hope that in ten years time I will be married a very nice man and we will have two children.

Of course, nobody knows what his/her future will be like. The end of the world is said to be in 2012. We will know all about our future, when it begins, but it will never begin. I hope that in the future all my dreams will come true.

My name is Elina Serõševa. I would like to apply for the position of a hotel receptionist I saw advertised in a student newspaper. One of my reasons for applying is that the job would give me valuable work experience during the summer holidays.

I am 17 years old and I live in Estonia. At present I am a student at Estonian school. I have a reasonable command of English, Russian, Estonian and German languages. I have a good knowledge of computers. Last year I had an experience of this kind of job. I worked in a restaurant as a receptionist. I very much enjoy working with people.

The reason I am applying for this job is that I would get a great working experience and I need some personal spending money. I thin I would be a suitable canditate for the job because I really like working with different people. I would do the job really well - you do not have to worry about that.

Education in Estonia

Estonians are trying to place a high value on education. Universal access to quality education has been one of the nation’s historic goals. Estonia’s first university, the University of Tartu was founded in 1632.

The educational system in Estonia is divided into primary school, secondary school and high school system. Efforts are being made to increase the number of secondary and high schools in the country. Almost all schools have a subject-centered curriculum, but there are also some schools with student-centered curriculum. In my personal opinion, the student-centered curriculum is better because it helps students to concentrate on their future professions. This curriculum means that student majors in one subject and minors in another. A student can major in history and minor in sociality, for example. In addition to these major and minor courses he can select other subjects according to his professional interest. The higher education is also very developed in Estonia.

The higher education consists of a four-year system. There are Bachelor Degrees, Master’s Degrees and Doctorate degrees.

In conclusion, education in Estonia is developing and reaching new heights.

The digital watch arrived safely six days ago and worked perfectly for the first few days but now it has gone wrong. When I shout at the alarm, it keeps on buzzing. I have red the instructions and I am sure that I have set the watch correctly.

The only way to cut crime in our country is to make punishment more severe

Crime is one of the most important issues nowadays. In the last few years, crime has been going up. Benefits of making punishments more severe are numerous yet much can be said against them.

The main advantage is that there are rapists and murderers who don't deserve to live, but many of them are let out of prisons after three or four years and this causes a lot of scandals in our souciety. So, in this case the death penalty and longlife unprisonment are welcomed. Also, it is very important to think about the wishes of the families and friends of murder victims who demand that justice be done. Finally, these severe measures will help us to keep our children away from crime.

However, the advantages are numerous, there are a lot of disadvantages. Firstly, by making punishments more severe innocent people can get it in the neck, because nowadays we have already had a lot of situations when

a man was in prison for twenty years, but then his innocence was proved. Secodnly, the death penalty affects some sections of the community much more than others. Thirdly, we mustn't be animals, we must believe in God, as the Bible says "Thou shalt not kill!"

To sum up, there are strong arguments for and against punishments, we need to do whatever it takes to consider positive and negative effects of sending people to prison before the final decision is made.
